Roger Karr “Roll With You”

Roger Karr’s latest single, “Roll With You”, made me think of the beach when I first heard it. Dunno about you, but the beach is definitely my happy place. That mood where you can spend hours in the sun and the warm water and forget your troubles and what time it is? That’s exactly the mood Karr’s track gave me. And I’ll tell you right now that sort of thing is rare. Sure, there’s a lot of great songs you can listen to at the beach. There’s a lot of tunes you associate with the beach because you heard them there at some point in the past.

But I’d never heard “Roll With You” and I don’t know if it’s necessarily a beach tune. Maybe it’s something to do with the artwork for the song, which does indeed show a beach at sunrise (or at least, I assume it’s sunrise, since that would be most logical). See, the song itself is about meeting someone new after you went through a tough break-up, which obviously, pretty much everyone wishes would happen.

With a unique voice, chill rhythm and overall excellent vibes, Roger Karr brings out this banger which is nothing like his previous songs. That isn’t to say the others weren’t good, of course, just that it’s a very different tone of voice and feeling, at least to me. I think that really goes to show the dude’s versatility, ‘cause Karr obviously has a lot to say, judging by the many topics his songs touch on.

But Karr’s not alone on this particular piece, it’s done in collaboration with Chef CLM, which definitely mixes things up a little. Overall, it’s a really pleasant tune, both for the beach and the middle of a hot city. It’s a song for all moods, and I love those types of songs because I can listen to them whenever and regardless of what I’m doing. With other tracks, you’re more locked down. One song, one mood, you know?

But with “Roll With You”, all I need is access to my Spotify and I’m good to go because Karr’s voice easily molds itself to whatever I’m feeling and makes it even better. Which I’d say is pretty nice of him, don’t you think?

This alone makes me put Karr on my watch-list (good thing artists are so easy to keep track of these days, huh?) because I definitely want to know what he comes up with next. Whether it’s gonna be another feel good song or something a bit deeper, I’ve no doubt I’m gonna relate to it just as easily.
