Ataraxis: Rock’s New Hidden Gem

Ataraxis is a band 45 minutes south in Cleveland, Ohio. This seemly unknown band has defied all low expectations after the departure of several members. The band has several similarities between the 90’s Seattle sound. Steven, the lead guitarist explains, “I took a lot of inspiration from bands from that era, however I want to build upon that and add my own ideas to make our own sound.” Steven who is the front man of Ataraxis, has written all the material on their 2nd album “Reflection” and now all of the songs on the bands latest studio album “Introspection”. Steven explains that he felt ecstatic for the new album, he continues with “We were more prepared for this album. We really took the time to make every little detail perfect. Now David, the bass guitarist for Ataraxis, has especially help to improve Ataraxis’ overall sound. He explains his role into the album by saying, “We put a lot more time and effort into this album”, explaining that not only himself but the band got a lot better in harnessing their exclusive sound. “I practiced a lot more before recording the album to make the songs go a lot smoother. I also practiced a lot harder to make me feel a lot more comfortable with the songs.”. Although David is relatively new to the bass guitar, he has exceptionally improved on the bass guitar. Now moving onto “introspection” itself, This album is a twenty two minute album filled with melodic, catchy guitars in songs like 4th Dimension and Sixteen. Emotional roller coaster in songs like Retrospect, Smothering The Sorrow, and Snapshot. Finally, a underrated Teen Angst song filled Prom Night Sucker. This is a album filled with tons of emotions to really make itself pop out at you. This album is a solid 9/10 and if your looking for a band to completely blow you away and to follow, Ataraxis is a for sure option.
