iblamealiyah; born Aliyah Kai Bennani, is a singer-songwriter & performer of Moroccan and Spanish descent based in Los Angeles. Aliyah started her music journey at the age of 8 on Youtube. Back then already she had gathered everyone’s attention with her exquisite vocals. Growing up all around the world, Aliyah spent a lot of time traveling and learning from different cultures which heavily influenced her craft. She quickly found a liking in the ‘80s and early ‘00s music, listening to various artists like; Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and Usher. Aliyah started posting music on Soundcloud in early 2018, after learning how to record, mix and master on her own. And although she gained traction. It just wasn’t the right time in her opinion; she felt the need to find her way before truly getting herself out there. However, she kept posting for the sake of her love for music under the pseudonym ‘Unknown 20’. After some years in the dark, Aliyah decided it was time to get out of her comfort zone and take things in hands. She tried various styles and genres before settling for her true love: Pop and R&B. All inspired by the ‘80s and early ‘00s sonics including the synth-wave movement. She considers herself to be a very versatile artist and forces herself not to limit her art to only one genre. Mainly relationship-oriented but not only, her songs also speak of many different issues; like mental health and changes. Aliyah wants to make sure to give a voice to minorities and to be able to help others by making their voices heard. With a very personal touch on each of her tracks, she tries to be as authentic and honest as she can to be able to connect with the people that listen.
