This year’s BET Hip Hop Award show, which also honors the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, was pre-recorded in Atlanta on Oct. 3. Hosted by the legendary Fat Joe.
The rapper and Bronx, N.Y., native, who is widely known for his 2000s hit “Lean Back,” returned to host the event for a second consecutive year.
Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP specials, music programming & music strategy, said in a statement. “We are honored by this year’s roster of nominees as they continue to carry the creativity and diversity of hip hop into the future. We congratulate each nominee on their accomplishments as they take hip hop artistry to new heights.”
One artist that attended to witness the celebration was Los Angeles-based female rapper, songwriter, and film producer Helecia Choyce, better known as SKG. Receiving her plaques for previous work at the Legendary “Death Row Records” and also receiving her plaques for her present work with BLAKDOUT Records, SKG is proving that any artist can re invent themselves while working hard to create a name within the music industry.
