We recently came across Sleaze Loc, a rapper out of Columbia, South Carolina, after seeing his name pop up as one of the newer artists signed to Rise Up Music Group. His latest single is called “Carolina Tupac,” and the name alone was enough to make us go see what he was talking about.
Sleaze Loc’s first release with Rise Up Music Group, “Carolina Tupac,” has been getting some attention since it dropped as well. Sleaze has already landed coverage from Music For All, FREIM TV and Lacaverna, putting the song in front of new listeners outside of South Carolina. And now that he’s signed to Rise Up, there’s some real history behind him. The label has spent so many years breaking independent artists, charting songs on the radiowaves and breaking some of the most unknown artists into tomorrow’s biggest stars. With Sleaze already bringing his own sound and personality to the table, that combination makes him one South Carolina rapper we’ll be keeping an eye on.
South Carolina has been giving us its own flavor of street rap for years, but Sleaze Loc caught our attention because he doesn’t sound like he’s following anybody else’s playbook. His flow is different, his voice sticks, and there’s a certain wildness to the way he puts his music together that makes you want to hear another song just to see what else he might do. In a time when you can scroll past ten new rappers who all sound like variations of each other, Sleaze Loc has something you can actually identify as his.
