Music-wise, we live in very exciting times. There are more and more young artists out there just doing their own thing, following their passion, daring to express themselves in all sorts of unique and fascinating ways and that is, in itself, incredible.
One such artist is the young, Chicago-born Presto X, who, at the precocious age of only twenty-two, is already carving out a name for himself in the music world with his catchy, easy-flowing tunes.
A cut above the rest, it would seem, Presto X’s music doesn’t fall in any one genre of music, but rather combines influences from all over the place, from rock to alternative pop to rap and even hip-hop. This, of course, makes it a little difficult to describe the music, but it also helps set Presto X apart from other musicians. He is not just another hip hop artist or would-be-rapper, but a young talent who brings together several genres and mixes them into one.
Presto X’s latest release, “My Way”, has already garnered appreciation from music lovers worldwide, who praise it as a beautiful tune and an easy and pleasant song.
The rhythm of the song focuses heavily on repetition and auto-tune, while the lyrics carry you down a wonderful romantic journey, as old as the worlds itself, some might say. In his lyrics, Presto talks about a longing to escape, to be alone with his sweetheart and start over, perhaps to run away from some trouble or a recent fight.
Tell me, am I getting through to you
What can I do?
Let’s go away, let’s be new,
Just me and you
Undoubtedly, a feeling that many of us have harbored at one moment or another, it’s excellently used as an overall theme in Presto’s music. What’s particularly appealing about “My Way” is that instead of being a ‘heavy’ love song that brings you down and makes you contemplate your relationship, it’s easy and flowing, floating around in the background whilst not being overly depressing.
It’s a love song without really being a love song, which I just love.
Ironically, the visualizer that goes with it shows us getting closer and closer to a moonlit city, presumably Chicago, and while the song itself seems to be about escape, the video invites us to go deeper in. Or who knows, perhaps Chicago’s the perfect place for a romantic escape….
One thing is clear, young Presto X, also known as Prince Young, has a bright future ahead of him, one built on musical diversity and obvious talent.
