From the vibrant music scene of Italy emerges the talented ensemble known as Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice, set to rock your world with their latest offering: a double single entitled “Bombshell.” These musical maestros are primed to take you on a unique journey through the realm of music and history.
Following the success of their album “Potatoes on Mars,” this Italian group is back with a bang, releasing two mesmerizing tracks that serve as the core of their upcoming album, “Transhumanity.” This album explores the transformation of humanity from sapiens to digitalis, offering a fresh perspective on our ever-evolving relationship with technology.
The title track, “Bombshell,” is a dance-rock masterpiece that pays tribute to the iconic Hedy Lamarr, a Hollywood actress and inventor of the 1940s and 50s. The song’s energetic beats and vibrant melodies capture the spirit of innovation that Lamarr embodied, reminding us that her contributions went beyond the silver screen, with inventions like WiFi and Bluetooth to her name.
On the B-Side of this double single, we’re treated to “The Ballad of Alan Mathison.” This curious prog ballad, with a lo-fi intro that transports us back to 1940s London during Nazi bombings, narrates the earthly tale of Alan Turing, the genius behind artificial intelligence. In this unique musical journey, Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice delve into history and science, celebrating the lives and legacies of two remarkable inventors.
“We were interested in talking about these two great, unfortunate and forgotten inventors who have had such a great impact on contemporary society,” says Andrea Pizzo of The Purple Mice. “Hedy Lamarr is considered the inventor of WiFi and Bluetooth, among other things. Alan Turing is the one who theorized artificial intelligence and saved England and Europe from Nazi rule by deciphering the Enigma code. Both during their lives, especially at the end, were victims of prejudice and human wickedness. We felt it was our duty to celebrate them.”
Adding to the sonic journey, the group accompanies their releases with visually stunning video clips. The Purple Mice’s artistic vision comes to life on YouTube with the aid of generative AI, providing a mesmerizing visual counterpart to their music.
Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice are not just crafting music; they’re weaving stories, paying homage to the great minds that shaped our world. “Bombshell” and “The Ballad of Alan Mathison” offer a unique blend of history, technology, and rock-infused rhythms, proving that music can be a powerful medium for celebration, reflection, and inspiration.
