2020 highlighted many challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic; in Los Angeles where the cases soared uncontrollably, mandatory lockdowns forced three musicians to collaborate in their safe bubble. What was intended as songwriting sessions to pass this time, ended up birthing a band, as Evan Greer, Woody Aplanalp and Anton Soder soon realized they were crafting undeniably great songs, and Your Other Half was born. They had one common factor – Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc. Evan Greer and Woody Aplanalp are two band members of Blacc’s band and Anton Soder, a Swedish native, had worked with Woody Aplanalp on various projects for Blacc including producing the Monday Night ESPN theme song. The isolation in LA had Your Other Half penning song after song, creating a genre-fluid sound that combines modern rock, eclectic soul and alt-pop. Sonic comparisons have been placed with the likes of Imagine Dragons, Kid Cudi and Lil Nas X. The trio collectively bring musicianship and live experience to the table. Lead singer and drummer, Evan Greer picked up his first drum sticks at the age of two and has played with QVLN, Quetzal, Aloe Blacc, Rocky Dawuni, Kanye West, and Janelle Monae. Lead guitarist Woody Aplanalp, is a multifaceted musician with a background in Jazz, Classical and R&B and has performed globally with various multi-genre bands and renowned World Music musicians. Producer Anton Soder, is originally from Stockholm, moved to Los Angeles to study music engineering and landed a production job at Atlantic studios in Hollywood and went onto engineer with artists from Icona Pop to Ziggy Marley. Your Other Half’s mission is to spread love, promote social change, and make a global impact with their music.
